The Making · Guide

Measuring your feet at home. Nine measurements, both feet.

Every last is worked to the client’s foot, so the bench needs your foot, not only your size. Ten minutes with a helper and a tape is enough. The bench reads what you send and confirms your fit before anything is cut.

01

Before you start

  • Both feet. They are rarely the same.
  • In the afternoon. Feet are at their fullest later in the day.
  • In the socks you will wear with the pair.
  • Standing, with your weight on both feet.
  • A helper, a flexible tape and a thin pencil. The printed sheets if you have a printer; the tape alone if not.

Keep the tape flat against the skin, snug but not squeezing. Write each measurement in millimetres.

02

With the printed guide

  1. 01

    Print

At 100 % (“actual size”, never “fit to page”) on A4. Check the three marks: the card box fits a bank card, the square is 50 mm, the line is 100 mm. If one is off, reprint.

  2. 02

    Against a wall

Fold the sheet on the dashed line and press the fold against a wall with no skirting board, or a large book standing upright.

  3. 03

    Trace

Stand with your heel against the wall, on the heel mark. Your helper traces round the foot, pencil upright, without lifting it.

  4. 04

    Mark

Mark the two widest points of the forefoot with a dot. Circle anywhere shoes usually trouble you.

  5. 05

    Measure

Take A to F with the tape. Read G, H and I from the trace.

  6. 06

    Send

Photograph each sheet flat, marks in view, and send them on WhatsApp or to support@sixkingsbrand.com.

03

With a tape only

No printer needed. Measure G, A, C and D, plus E and F for boots. For G, stand with your heel against the wall, hold a second book flat against your longest toe, and measure between them. The bench asks if it needs more.

Check

Compare G with the cm row of the size chart on the guide’s first sheet. If it is a long way from your usual size, or outside UK 5–13, message the bench.

06

What happens next

The bench reads your measurements and asks if anything is unclear. It asks how you like them to fit, then sends Your fit, confirmed, on WhatsApp.

How a shoe should fit

Nothing is cut until your fit is confirmed.
